This Q&A is the latest in a blog series featuring questions submitted by some of the parents (and even grandparents) who reach out to us on a daily basis. We've started documenting our answers and the subsequent conversations for the sake of you and other parents out there who might be asking the same questions about choosing, buying, setting up, maintaining, and enjoying a wooden swing set for their family.

For today's Q&A, Maria Gibson, mother of 4, asks whether she needs to assemble the swing set herself.

Question: Do I need to assemble the swing set?

- Maria Gibson, Mother of Randy, Alex, Jonathan, and Stephanie

Answer: Absolutely not! We have some of the best contractors on speed dial so that we can provide expert installation and assembly services to all of our customers who need it. In fact, we’ll even get in touch with the contractor and arrange for them to call you directly to work out the best time for them to come and put your playset together.

These certified installers are professional, fast, and a pleasure to work with. Additionally, because we work with them frequently, they will give our customers a nice discount on the installation. Generally, a standard Swingset Co. wooden swing set will cost about $300 to install from start to finish. This is a low figure compared to what most contractors charge for the same work.

Of course, if you are the handy type who likes to get involved in a real hands-on project (or you just want to save a little bit of money so you can buy more swing set accessories instead!), then we have some great news for you. All of our wooden swing sets are easy to assemble on your own, and it will only take you about four hours to complete the entire job.

What makes The Swingset Co. playground equipment so easy to assemble? It’s our secret recipe for instant playset success.

  • Start off with wood playset pieces that are prepared and ready to go. We’ve sanded down the wood to a smooth-to-the-touch finish. No worrying about splinters, no dealing with sanding paper or a mess. The wood is ready for you to put it together.
  • Add in pre-drilled holes for even easier installation. One of the trickiest parts of assembling a wooden swing set is drilling the holes. Unless you are very experienced with your power tools, it only takes slightly too much pressure to split the wood as you’re drilling. Once the beams are split, the entire structural integrity of the playset is compromised. The Swingset Co. pre-drills all of the holes for you, so you can breathe a sigh of relief and check this stressful step off of the assembly process.
  • Combine pre-assembled parts for a winning installation. That’s right, your outdoor playhouse comes with some of the parts already put together for you. And we are talking about the really tricky ones like bridges and deck floors. These are the parts that take the most time to assemble, dragging the installation process out for days on end. Instead of putting you through the agony of having to combine 2000+ pieces all on your own, we’ve done the tricky bits for you. So all you’re left with is the fun stuff.

So you see, while you don’t have to assemble your new wooden swing set on your own, The Swingset Co. makes it so easy, you might find that you want to! Many parents have emailed us after the fact to tell us that putting their wooden swing sets together was actually an enjoyable experience!
